Home Print / Save this page

During student internship the university will be utilizing a system called TK20 and its “Field Experience” binder application to support the collection of data and assessments necessary to be documented during the experience. The binder serves as a portfolio of work where the student, mentor, and Faculty Supervisor will all be able to access and document necessary requirements of their role throughout student teaching. The following instructions will provide guidance for Faculty Supervisors and how they will be utilizing the binder to submit their documentation and complete student internship evaluations.

Accessing the System

To access the Field Experience Module Binder, click on the Assessment Management Tool link, listed under the Quick Links menu or the bottom of the page of your faculty portal.

After clicking on “Assessment Management Tool” you will then be launched into the TK20 system. Once you are in, navigate to the “Field Experience” Tab located on the left side panel

After clicking on “Field Experience” you will click on the sub tab that generates “Assessments”. From there a list of students assigned to you will be visible.

To access the student, individually click on the hyperlinked name of the student to enter that binder.

Note: The red flag located next to the student’s name indicates that there is work to be done in the binder. The red flag will only disappear once all forms have been completed and the binder is submitted at the end of your supervising experience with the student.

Working inside the student’s Binder

Once you have clicked on the name the binder will open into a two-panel view.

Any work submitted by the student will be located on the left-hand side of the two panel. Anything completed by the Mentor will be located on the right at the bottom of the page under “Mentor’s Forms”. Your specific forms as a Faculty Supervisor will be located on the right side as well under “Field Experience Forms”. The red flag located next to each form indicates that this form needs to be completed. NOTE: Although you will see the students Mentors name and the students name, you will not see your name specifically called out in the binder. The binder assumes it is you as you are accessing the binder that is assigned to your TK20 account.

Reviewing the Students Work

During the students ADMIN 591B & C courses the student will be using the binder to upload a copy of their internship projects: Teacher Observation and Professional Development, Management of Resources and Operations, Student Discipline, and Community Relations Plan.

You will find this work located on the left-side of the two-panel view of the binder. Click on the tab that aligns with the project you are to review. If the student has uploaded a document in this area you will find it hyperlinked to click on when you have clicked on the tab (see screen show below)

To open their document simply click on the hyperlink and proceed with downloading the file onto your computer to then open.

Forms to be completed by the Faculty Supervisor

The forms that are assigned in your section of the binder include evaluations associated with the students 4 projects, acknowledgement forms for midterm and final, grade forms for 591 B & C courses, and documentation requirements for your role as a faculty supervisor. Below will outline how to access and navigate the various types of forms that are applicable within the binder.

Evaluation Forms

As a faculty supervisor you will be asked to complete an evaluation associated with the 4 parts of the student’s internship projects. You will review the students submitted project on the left-hand side of the binder. After reviewing you will click on the corresponding evaluation for that project (ex. Teacher Observation & Professional Development).

You will click on the form to open the evaluation, then proceed to use the radio buttons that apply to score and evaluate the student (Does Not Meet, Meets, Exceeds). You will need to provide a score that corresponds to the radio button and manually enter that number in the score box. Does Not Meet is a 1, Meets is a 2, Exceeds is a 3).

Note: Each form will have a “Grade” text space throughout the binder. Please disregard this space. You will not enter anything into the “Grade” section. Please defer to the “Grade Form” also listed in the binder to score appropriately.

After you have gone through and clicked on the radio button and entered the score manually, scroll down to the bottom of the form and click “Save & Close”

Once you have clicked the save and close you will see a pop-up window occur like screenshot below. Please proceed with clicking the “OK” and your responses will be captured and saved.

Grade Forms

During courses ADMIN 591 B & C the student will be required to provide a screenshot of a grade form completed by you in which case you rated the intern’s skills performance. To complete the grade form for each course you will click into the name of the form to open. You will defer to the rubric mean score from the previous project evaluation you scored to determine if the student has met expectations. In the box where it says enter score under the red font you would enter a 50 if they earned a mean of 2 or 3; 0 if they earned a mean of 1.

Faculty Supervisor Documentation

Within the binder will also be a place to upload necessary evidence and documentation that is required of you as a Faculty Supervisor.

Once you have clicked on the form you will see designated uploading slots where you will submit your orientation meeting log, checklist, ILP, and Intern Reflection and Notebook. You can either select files to upload or drag and drop files (you may upload multiple documents to each section as needed).

After you have uploaded your documents, please ensure you are using the “Save & Close” button or “Save” each time.

Submitting the Binder

At this time you will not be required to use that “Submit button” at the top of the page. So long as you have been saving your work inside each individual form within the binder, we should be able to collect the data we need.
