The mentor is an integral part of the student internship experience. The experience and knowledge that the mentor shares with the administrative intern is key to the success of the experience. For the purpose of the internship experience the university will be asking you to complete an evaluation on the internship projects using our assessment system called TK20. Below are instructions that will walk you through some general guidance on accessing the system and the binders in which you will complete those evaluations.

Accessing the System

Mentors will receive an emailed link that will serve as their system access point. Within that email will be a configured link to click on that will launch you into the system or you may copy and paste that link into your internet browser. NOTE: Do not attempt to access the link twice in the same browser sessions. The system will error you out. Click on the link or copy and paste into your browser once to open. If you need to exit and come back later, please ensure you are doing so in a new browsing window session.

Inside the Binder

Once you have launched into TK20 you will be placed into a binder of the intern which will display a two-panel view.

Any work submitted by the intern will be located on the left-hand side of the two panel. Faculty Supervisor forms will be located on the right side as well under “Faculty Supervisor Forms”.  Your forms will be located under where it says, “Field Experience Forms”. The red flag located next to each form indicates that this form needs to be completed. NOTE: Although you will see the intern Faculty Supervisors name and the interns name, you will not see your name specifically called out in the binder. The binder assumes it is you as you are accessing the binder that is assigned to your TK20 account.

Reviewing the Interns Work

During the interns ADMIN 591B & C courses the interns will be using the binder to upload a copy of their internship projects: Teacher Observation and Professional Development, Management of Resources and Operations, Student Discipline, and Community Relations Plan.

You will find this work located on the left-side of the two-panel view of the binder. Click on the tab that aligns with the project you are to review. If the intern has uploaded a document in this area you will find it hyperlinked to click on when you have clicked on the tab (see screen show below)

To open their document simply click on the hyperlink and proceed with downloading the file onto your computer to then open.

Evaluation Forms to be Completed by Mentor

As a faculty supervisor you will be asked to complete an evaluation associated with the 4 parts of the intern’s internship projects. You will review the interns submitted project on the left-hand side of the binder. After reviewing you will click on the corresponding evaluation for that project (ex. Teacher Observation & Professional Development).

You will click on the form to open the evaluation, then proceed to use the radio buttons that apply to score and evaluate the intern (Does Not Meet, Meets, Exceeds). You will need to provide a score that corresponds to the radio button and manually enter that number in the score box. Does Not Meet is a 1, Meets is a 2, Exceeds is a 3).

Note: Each form will have a “Grade” text space throughout the binder. Please disregard this space. You will not enter anything into the “Grade” section. Please defer to the “Grade Form” also listed in the binder to score appropriately.

After you have gone through and clicked on the radio button and entered the score manually, scroll down to the bottom of the form and click “Save & Close”

Once you have clicked the save and close you will see a pop-up window occur like screenshot below. Please proceed with clicking the “OK” and your responses will be captured and saved.
