How to Join SHRM

University of Phoenix has partnered with SHRM to offer student memberships for $49 – a savings of $195! Membership includes digital versions of the HR Magazine, access to shrm.org resources and member discounts. There is no additional fee for joining the University of Phoenix Main Campus SHRM Affiliated Student Chapter.

UOPX Student Chapter

We encourage student to obtain membership with both SHRM National and the University of Phoenix Main Campus SHRM Affiliated Student Chapter. This will grant you access to shrm.org resources and member discounts.

However, students may join the UOPX student chapter only.

To join the University of Phoenix Main Campus SHRM Affiliated Student Chapter only, without joining SHRM National, please send an email stating your request to join the local chapter.

SHRM National

Step 1

Visit the SHRM National website.

You will need to create an account if this is your first time visiting the site.

Step 2

Select the Join/Renew option under the Membership tab and complete the required academic information.

Step 3

Complete the prompt to affiliate with the University of Phoenix Main Campus SHRM Student Chapter (Arizona).

The student chapter number is 5471.

Per the eligibility criteria changes on January 1, 2022,  everyone who does not perform executive-level or strategic level must take the SHRM-CP.  Taking a specialty credential, if recommended by the Decision Tool, before applying for the SHRM-CP is optional. You may apply for the exams when the application period is open. Visit https://store.shrm.org/certification-application.  After completing the application process, create a user account, or login if you already have a profile. Enter your name as it appears on your unexpired original government-issued ID. (Name on ID must be represented in Latin characters).  

The SHRM Certification Handbook will provide you with an overview of the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certifications, outline certification policies and procedures, and describe the steps you must take to earn and maintain your credential.  Visit SHRM Certification | Handbook for more information.
